Swacch Mangaluru Abhiyan by RKM completes 404 drives end of season

Mangaluru, June 4, 2017: The 34th week with 14 cleanliness campaigns exceeded 400 Abhiyans mark to reach at 404 expeditions organized by Ramakrishna Mission, Mangaluru on May 28.  This was the final week before the advent of the SW monsoons in Mangaluru. World Environment Day June 5 will see gram panchayats  launch five cleanliness drives along highways and it is expected to pave the way for rural effort of Swachh Bharat in the region.  This effort has greatly motivated and brought awareness on keeping the city and area clean among all kinds of people and even young children, elders around 80 and more too have participated and given a prime example for the future.

On this day a workshop was also held at RK Mission with the participation of Panchayath representatives and PDOs, with a view to extend the effort to rural areas. There was good participation in all 14 areas with a wide cross section of students, automen, citizens and organisations. 

The 14 sites (391 to 404) cleaned documented as follows - Please see pictures too :   391 Hampankatta– in front of Mini Vidhana Saudha. Swami Jitakamanandaji thanked the volunteers for their dedication in consistenetly holding cleanliness drives for the past 9 months. Capt. Ganesh Karnik addressed the volunteers. Swami Gitamritanandaji of Allahabad Ramakrishna Math and Smt. Veena Shetty, Senior Manager, MRPL jointly flagged off the drive.  392 Yekkur.  393 Bhavanthi Street, 394 Mangaladevi. 395 Kodialbail,  396 Ganapathi High school Road – The members of Sri Krishna Bhavan Auto Stand took up the drive in GHS Road and surrounding areas. Along with GHS Road they cleaned the main roads in front of University College and foot paths.   397 Ashok Nagar.  398 Clock Tower Circle. 399 Bolara.

400 Nanthur where Chief General Manager of Karnataka Bank, Sri Raghavendra Bhat flagged off the drive in the presence of Swami Ekagamyanandaji. Volunteers later cleaned the National Highway and surrounding areas  also  401.Yekkur,  402 Karangalpady– Local Auto drivers of Karangalpady auto shelter carried out cleanliness work. 403.
