Udupi, May 10, 2019: Udupi District in-charge Minister Jayamala has informed that the state government has announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh each to the families of the seven fishermen of Suvarna Tribhuja fishing boat.
The announcement comes days after the wreckage of the boat was found off the Malvan coast in Maharashtra by the Navy’s warship INS Nireekshak. The boat which had set off on a fishing expedition from Malpe Port was missing since then.
The Minister spoke to the media after attending a district level meeting to discuss the water problem in the district.
She stated that the water presently available will last only for 20 days. She said water was presently being supplied to affected areas in 141 tankers. The district administration has Rs 33 crore for drought relief works, she informed.
