Suratkal woman’s Rs 14 lakh worth gold chain robbed in Mangaluru-Mumbai train

Mangaluru, July 30, 2019: A gold chain valued at Rs 14 lakhs belonging to Geetha Nadar (48), a resident of Krishnapura Chokkabettu near Suratkal  has   been stolen while she was travelling on the Mangaluru-CST Express Train from Mangaluru to Mumbai on the night of July 21. The  woman has lodged a complaint at  the Panvel Railway Police Station in Mumbai.

 

robbed.jpgGeetha had boarded the train at Suratkal railway station along with her son Pradeep  at 5.15 pm on July 21. Both were awake until the train reached Ratnagiri. Later Geetha who kept her handbag under her head had fallen asleep.   When she woke up at 6.45 am the next morning the train had stopped at Roha signal. She found the zip of the bag opened and her  gold chain weighing 60 sovereigns and worth Rs 14.8 lakhs missing. The thieves however  had left her mobile phone and cash untouched.

The mother and son were on way to Bhandup to take part in a birthday celebration.
