Suratkal toll gate impasse : DC assures early solution

Bantwal, Oct 30, 2018: Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil who convened an emergency meeting on October 29, Monday in the wake of the impasse over the Suratkal toll gate and the ongoing protest demanding its closure, has said that a meeting would be held in the presence of the DK District in-charge Minister UT Khader  in the first  week of  December.

He also stated that a final decision would be taken on the issue  after  holding a meeting in Bengaluru with the participation of the representatives of the protestors. Talks will also be held with the Chief Secretary, the DC said and urged the protestors to  consider  calling off the protest.


During the meeting officials of the NationaL Highway Authority drew the ire of the  DC  by their silence. NHAI Project Director Ajith was however absent. Officials were only pointing fingers towards Delhi and stating that they were not to be blamed for the impasse.


Muneer Katipalla, Convenor of the committee that is spearheading the protest  has said that the  fight will continue till the toll gate was closed down and reiterated that as per rules two toll gates on a single stretch cannot function within a distance of 60 kms.
