Suratkal BJP leader assault case : 4 more accused arrested

Mangaluru, May 4, 2016 : Suratkal Police who are investigating into the case of attempt on the life of a local BJP leader named Bharatraj have arrested four accused on May 3, Tuesday.


BharatrajThose arrested are  Abdul Aziz (40) from Katipalla, Barkat Ali alias Amir (26) from Soorinje, Mohammed Rizwan alias Rijju (23) and Irfan (27) from Krishnapura.


All the four were arrested at Padubidri. With this the  total number of  arrests in this case has risen to six. Police have already arrested Abdul Khader (37) from Kalavaru and Mohammed Shariff (47) from Krishnapura on April 17 on the charges of abetting the attackers by providing them vehicle.

The incident was reported on April 13. Bharatraj who was passing through Krishnapur Mutt Road in his motorbike  was intercepted by four persons who came by a Scorpio car and  hit their vehicle against Bharatraj’s bike.


They had then rushed towards Bharatraj who had fallen on the road, with sword and iron rods. Luckily, Bharatraj had managed to escape from their clutches.  The assailants too had fled by abandoning their vehicle and weapons.

Meanwhile, Navarang Friends Circle of Krishnapura met Mangaluru North MLA Moidin Bava on Tuesday and urged him to ensure the arrest of the  actual persons who were  behind the  murder attempt on the BJP leader.
