Sunder Malekudiya case : Accused who chopped off fingers finally arrested at Puttaparthi

Mangaluru, Aug 24, 2015:  Gopalkrishna Gowda, the landlord who was wanted in connection with the case of chopping off the  fingers of Sunder Malekudiya  in Neriya village of Belthangady  has been finally arrested almost a month after the incident.

This was informed to reporters here on August 23, Sunday by DK SP  Dr Sharanappa. The SP said Gowda was arrested from a guest house at Puttaparthi at Ananthpur in Andhra Pradesh on August 22, Saturday. His sister’s car driver Vasanth Gowda has also been arrested.

Police have already arrested Pushpalatha, the wife of the main accused, while his sister Damayanthi, who is also an accused is still at large.

The complaint lodged by the victim Sunder Malekudiya’s wife Revathi  stated that the accused had  on July 26 barged into the  land of Sunder and  sprayed chilly powder on his family members and then chopped off Sunder’s fingers using a weeding machine.

 Four police teams were formed to trace the accused who was finally trapped at Puttaparthi. His sister Damayanthi’s car driver who had left for Hassan was arrested at Chennarayapatna.

The SP also exuded confidence of arresting Damayanthi soon. He also stated that at the outset if seems that a land dispute had led to the incident.
