Sullia: Two accused detained in Vedavathy Murder case

Mangaluru July 7, 2016: Puttur Police succeeded in detaining two accused in connection to the Vedavathy murder case in Sullia on 16th April, informed Suprindient of Police Bhushan Borase.

Speaking to the media Persons at SP Office today July 7 Thursday he said that, in connection to the murder police swung in action with clueless at first and certain investigation Police able to detain Karunakar (52) and his wife Padma who involved in the destruction of the evidence. Karunakar had nearly 30 lakhs of debt in his name and addicted to alcohol.

He also said that, stolen gold item worth 2 lakhs has been recovered from Karunakar. Synopsis of crime goes as Karunakar who is neighbor of Vedavathy, had owed 30 lakhs of debt and asked her to lend him her money and gold but she refused to give.

Karunakar had planned to eliminate Vedavathy, and waited for the right time to execute the plan. When Vedavathy was alone at home Karunakar attacked Vedavathy with a sickle from behind. One of her relative found Vedavathy dead in the kitchen and house was found completely burgled, said SP Bhushan Borase.

Following the murder protests were held and the police were given a deadline till July 7 to detain the culprit. Previously Karunakar was involved in forgery case in 2005.
