Sullia: Rs 5 lakh cash robbed from an Arecanut merchant in Bellare

Mangaluru, Jan 23, 2017 : Rs 5 lakh cash was robbed by a group of dacoits from an arecanut merchant at gun point in Bellare , Sullia Taluk on January 23, Monday.

 

robbery 23 jan 17Abdul Khader an arecanut merchant was the person who was been robbed off. Sources say that Abdul was on his way to shop at Guttigaru from his residence at Bellare. A gang of miscreants came in a SUV, intercepted the car that he was driving just 4kms from his residence. They fled from the spot taking away the cash from his vehicle .

 

Bhushan Gulabrao Borase, superintendent of police, who visited the crime scene said the gang who intercepted the Khader’s vehicle quickly ensured that there was one of them at each its door and threatened them with a pistol and knives. They also took away the mobile phones that Khader and his co-passengers were carrying with them. The occupants who were shell-shocked at the brazen manner in which they were robbed failed to note details of the getaway vehicle.


Bhushan said while one of the dacoits had covered his face with a mask, the rest had not done so. They were speaking in Hindi, SP said adding police have certain clues and are working towards detecting the case.


Case of dacoity and arms act has been registered against them in Bellare police station. Further Investigations are going on.
