Sullia, Jan 29, 2015: A 57 year old man who was at large ever since he allegedly shot dead his daughter-in-law over a property dispute at Uppukala in Kollamogaru Panchayat limits near Subrahmanya was on January 28, Wednesday found dead in a forest area at Kotnadka-Uppukala. Only his skeletal remains were found and it is suspected that he might have died several days ago.
The man identified as Nagappa Gowda was missing ever since he reportedly killed his daughter-in-law Vidya after a heated exchange of words with her. Though police along with ANF help had launched an intensive search for him in the nearby forest areas, he could not be traced.
Meanwhile, it was said that some people had seen him enter the forest area and had also heard gun shots. It is also said that Nagappa Gowda who owned a gun was an expert in shooting and was also known for his aggressive behaviour.
The skeletal remains were noticed on Wednesday by some people who had gone to search a missing cow. Some clothes and a gun were also found nearby and it was confirmed that the skeletal remains were that of Gowda.
Only investigations may reveal if Gowda had committed suicide or had died out of hunger. Subrahmanya police are investigating.
