Mangaluru, Mar 15, 2018: The Suggi-Huggi programme organised by the Department of Kannada and Culture at the Siri Chavadi of Tulu Bhavan here on March 15, Thursday turned out to be a damp squib for want of spectators. There was only a handful of gathering to watch the cultural events by reputed artistes and troupes of the district. A few students of a school and artistes themselves were the audience.
MLA J R Lobo who presided over the function openly expressed his displeasure over the lack of interest shown by the public to such events.
Chandrahas Rai B, Deputy Director of Kannada and Culture Department, Corporator Radhakrishna and others were present.
A variety of folk events from teams from Kateel, Kulai, Mysuru, Moodbidri, Mulki, Belthangady and Suratkal took part in the event and presented Dollu Kunitha, Huli Vesha, Suggi Kunitha, Kangilu and various other folk programmes.
