Students showcase talent at art expo

Mangaluru, Nov 28, 2019:   An art and craft exhibition organised at the Kanachur Public School, Deralakatte, on November 27,  Wednesday was cherished by many. Students from nursery to Class 8 exhibited their hand work, with each class working on a different theme.

The handicrafts of the students in the form of handbags, folders, coloured pots and collage work, stunned the visitors. The exhibition had an array of art and craft items ranging from expressive pottery, thalli decoration, candle and doll-making to miniature art work.

The art displayed included pencil shading, pen art, acrylic, embossing, coffee, glass, cloth, stone, pebble art, sand, nib, spatula, miniature, glass, pot, abstract, thread and canvas board painting. There were different types of craft like fashion illustration, mixed media of button art, gift bag craft, fairy house, miniature garden, newspaper recycle, bottle craft and types of basket.

“This  exhibition gives an opportunity to budding artists to display their creative talents and develop a humane outlook from the appreciation they are shown,” said N S Pattar of Mahalasa College of Visual Art.

He said, “Art is not just colours and lines. It is a form of expression,” and expressed his happiness over the art and craft displayed by the students.

Prof Abdul Rahiman, Advisory Board Chairman of Kanachur Academy of General Education, said that art is an inherent quality present in everyone. This quality should be brought out by the art teachers, he added.
