The protest was organised to also demand a speedy probe into the Nanditha death case of Thirthahalli and bring the culprits to book.

Dikshith V Shetty, President of the Union, who addressed the protestors urged the state government to consider  the sexual crimes seriously.  Pointing out that several such cases of mysterious deaths of students in the district remained unresolved, he made a strong case for a CBI investigation into the Nanditha case.

The protestors later submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner to be forwarded to the Chief Minister.
