Students of CFAL in International Olympiad

Mangaluru, Jan 09, 2018: Eighteen students, training at Centre for Advanced Learning (CFAL), Kottara Cross, Mangaluru, have entered the second stage Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology, Astronomy And Junior Science Olympiads (National-level) leading to international level.

Pratyush Prashanth from Canara PU College has emerged as the topper in Karnataka in Physics and second topper in Astronomy.

Shreesha G Bhat from National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) is another second topper in Astronomy in the state.

Shreesha Bhat has been selected for second stage exam in Physics, Chemistry and Astronomy while Prathyush Prasanth is selected in Physics and Astronomy.

The other students selected for the second stage exam are: Anish Hebbar, XI standard, (NIOS), Astronomy, Mathematics, Shravan Singh Mehra (XI Std, Lourdes Central School) - Astronomy, Mathematics, Krishna Swaroop (XII Std, NIOS) – Chemistry, Samarth M Bhat (XI Std, Lourdes Central School) – Mathematics, Suraj S Samaga (XI Std, Lourdes Central School ) - Mathematics, Rahul Balike XI Std (Lourdes Central School) - Mathematics, Aishwarya A (10th Std, Sharada Vidyalaya) – Mathematics, Y Koustubh Rao (10th Std, (Vidyodaya Public School, Udupi) - Mathematics , Alina Pinto (XI Std, NIOS) - Mathematics , Ankush Moger (XI Std, Lourdes Central School), Mathematics , Rajath Rao K N (XI Std ,NIOS) – Mathematics, V Hema Padmaja (I PUC ,Canara P U College) – Mathematics, Shreyas Vasudev Pai (XI Std ,Lourdes Central School) - Biology, Sourav V (II PUC ,Govindadas PU College) – Biology, Agney Gautam Raj (9th Std,St Theresa’s School) - Junior Science and Aditya Thomas (9th Std, Sharada Vidyalaya) - Junior Science.

While congratulating the students for their achievement, CFAL, Mangaluru, principal Severine Rosario said that the Indian National Olympiad (INO) is a platform to select talented students in the specified subjects and to train and nurture them to compete at International Olympiads. This national-level test selects students from across the country through National Standard Examinations and selection camps to form a five-six members’ team competing at International Olympiads.

The Olympiads Examinations are conducted in subjects Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology, Junior Science And Astronomy. Homi Bhabha Centre for Science education is the nodal centre of the country for Olympiad programs.
