Students impressed by exam without invigilator

Mangaluru, Aug 11 2018:  Everywhere it can be seen that  utmost security is planned by institutions to prevent malpractices in examinations, Crossland College, Brahmavar, devised a new initiative by allowing students to opt for an examination hall without invigilators.

Nineteen students opted for the opportunity given to the students.  They were  called by the principal and the idea and system of this novel scheme was laid before them, all of them promised to be self vigilant and honest at the examinations.

More students are expected to take part in this process from the next examination on wards. A final year student said, “I feel proud to have made use of this opportunity. I am happy to be considered a honest and sincere student by everyone.”

Prof K K Gurumurthy, associate orofessor in History, said that the general feeling of the students was that this exercise made them write the examination without any fear, made them more responsible and sincere. They felt happy that the principal and teachers trust them fully and that itself is the greatest motivation for them to face the world with confidence.

“Writing examination without invigilator is an amazing concept. When I came out of the examination hall, I felt that it is really a challenge for a student to prove her sincerity to herself,” one student voiced the feeling generally seen. “Being faithful gives joy,” another final year student said. 

“This was the first time I wrote an exam without an invigilator. This time I was able the concentrate fully. It was a good experience. The environment was also calm and quiet. There was enough time to think and concentrate while writing the answers. It helps one to be sincere in future,” said one more student.

Principal Prof Samuel K Samuel said, “We have been toying with this idea for some time and I feel extremely delighted that 19 students came forward immediately after the information was passed on to them. We are in pursuit of inculcating moral values in our students and this is another attempt towards it, as envisaged by the founder of the institution late Dr C T Abraham.”
