Students get scholarship at Beary’s Cultural Forum meet

Mangalore, Aug 11, 2014:  Speaking at  the inauguration of Beary’s Cultural Forum Education Scholarship Meet -2014 in Mangalore on August 10. Minister for Forest, Ecology and Environment B Ramanath Rai said, All leaders have the responsibility of building an educated society and in order to extend help to economically backward in a true manner one has to educate fellow humans.

He further said that the girls belonging to minority class are privileged with more educational facilities today and the minority community has been aware of the significance of education, which is a laudable thing, the Minister said.

Minister for Urban Development Vinay Kumar Sorake, who was the guest of honour said that the NRIs have been doing a laudable job by providing financial aid to the students of the community. In Kapu alone, there are 27 per cent NRIs and they have a major share in social activities. In Islam community, the ‘Zakath’ is of utmost importance and as per the tradition, a share of the earning has to be distributed among poor.

MLC Capt Ganesh Karnik said that the sole purpose of education should not be the gathering of materialistic pleasures but to inculcate moral values. Students need to be taught that life is meaningful only when we live for others.

Further he said that education must teach how to eliminate the socio- economic and regional disparities. Personality building should be an indivisible part of today’s education system. Students must introspect whether the education they reieveis making them responsible and aware citizen of the society.

  Atrocities on women and heinous crime against innocent girl children is a symbol of a moral degradation, with which the society has been suffering from. These could be stopped only with the following of moral ethics, Ganesh Karnik said.

Scholarships were distributed to near 500 meritorious students on the occasion. Beary’s Cultural Forum President Dr B K Yusuf, BCF Patron B M Mumtaz Ali, Beary’s Group Chairman Sayyed Beary, Fiza Group Chairman B M Farookh and others were present.
