Student send false WhatsApp message that lecturer is dead; arrested

Puttur, Sep 23, 2016 : A student of a private college in Mangaluru has landed in jail after he  circulated a false WhatsAapp message that a lecturer of a private college in Puttur has died of cardiac arrest.

whataspThe arrested student   is Vinuth N of Bantwal taluk. He is a second year B.Com student. Vinuth who was earlier studying in the private college at Puttur  had first  sent his false message to a particular WhatsApp  Group. Soon it got widely circulated and even reached some of the relatives and friends of the  lecturer who rushed to his residence  late night. However,  they were shocked when the particular lecturer himself opened the door. Soon realising that this was the prank played by some miscreants, a complaint was lodged in Puttur Town Police Station.

 The police led by Inspector Mahesh Prasad who wasted no time in investigating the case,soon learnt that it was  Vinuth who was the culprit.

On interogation he is learnt to have revealed that he  did this prank   to avenge the lecturer who had  reportedly offended him while he was undergoing PUC  course in the Puttur college. He has reportedly stated that he had  then  approached the lecturer to enquire  about the Teachers Day celebration when the latter allegedly offended him.
