Stress management workshop for Home Guards marks Women’s Day celebrations

Mangaluru, March 11, 2019: Celebrating the International Women’s Day in a unique manner, the Centre for Integrated Learning in association with the Inner Wheel Club of Mangalore North organised a half day Dance Movement Therapy workshop  on Stress Management and Mindfulness for lady personnel of Dakshina Kannada District Home Guards at Rotary Bal Bhavan in the city recently.

Inaugurating the workshop, Chief General Manager (HR) of MRPL, Lakshmi M Kumran highlighted the enormous stress that a working woman goes through and opined that an individual should explore herself to attain mindfulness in view of furthering one’s efficiency. Balancing professional duties and domestic achievements was an important issue that needs to be dealt with on a day to day basis, she added.

Guest of honour on the occasion, Commandant, Dakshina Kannada District Home Guards, Dr. Murali Mohan Chuntharu commended the efforts of Lady Home Guards who toiled in the scotching heat at the traffic signals and also during times of various emergencies. He complemented all the women in different sectors for their dedication and outlined the numerous roles that a woman does during her day including that of being a professional, a mother, daughter, wife, in-law among others.

The workshop was conducted by Sachitha Nandagopal, a Facilitator of Dance Movement and Expressive Arts Therapy who made the participants realise their inner strengths to cope up with the stress and attain mindfulness.

To mark the occasion, two women achievers Bhavani Kumari, a Home Guard personnel and Lakshmi M Kumaran were honoured for their remarkable service in their chosen fields.
