Udupi, Jan 15, 2018: In an unusual incident, thieves who had stolen silver ornaments and valuables from the Neecha Daivasthana at Katapady Yenagudde in Udupi, have silently returned some of the stolen goods and the same were found at the shrine on January 14, Sunday morning.
The theft had occurred on the night of October 2 last year when the thieves had decamped with the idol of the Daiva and other valuables including the silver frame of the door and door handles apart from the silver aureole.
When the police failed to trace the thieves, the shrine authorities had tried to seek solace through a astrologer who had reportedly told that the stolen goods would be back before Makara Sankramana.
Strangely some of the stolen goods are now back. Police have taken possession of the articles. It is said the returned silver valuables weighed around 200 grams.
