Steps taken to sort out network problem due to mobile jammer in prison : Home Minister

Mangaluru, April 3, 2016 : State Home Minister Dr. G Parameshwar has informed that  measures have been taken to ensure that the mobile jammers installed at the District Jail premises caused least inconvenience to mobile phone users in the area,  by limiting the  effectiveness of the jammers only to the jail premises.


ParameshwarThe Home Minister who was replying to a query from MLC Ivan D’Souza in the Legislative Council has said the necessary rectification regarding mobile jammers has been done by experts from ECIL, the company which has installed the jammers.

He also informed that initial process regarding construction of a new prison on a 64 acre land in Kurnad and  Chelur villages  is underway and that the Prisons Department has already submitted the project blue print and budget estimate to the PWD. The construction would begin once the same are approved, informed  the  minister.

To ensure adequate security in the existing prison, one baggage scanner, five mobile jammers and  7 CCTVs have been installed. Five PSIs of  Industrial Security Force and 23 police personnel have been deployed on security duty, he said.
