State Marine Police Training Centre to be set up near Udupi, other facilities too

Udupi, May 5, 2016: Addressing media, Udupi DC Dr R. Vishal, on May 4, Wednesday stated that 24.1 acres of land had been earmarked for the construction of the State Marine Police Training Centre at Kodibengre village near Udupi.


dc DC Dr . Vishal said this land had earlier been earmarked for the National Institute of Coastal Policing. Since the Union government had clarified that Karnataka was not among the States where such an institute would be set up, the matter was referred to the State government. The setting-up of this centre will help in enhancing security in the coastal districts. Personnel of the Coastal Security Police will be trained here, he said.

KSRTC bus-stand : DC Dr. Vishal said the State government had given its nod for transfer of 2.5 acres of land for construction of  KSRTC,  Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation bus-stand at Bannanje here. Though a district headquarters, the KSRTC does not have its own bus-stand, and at present functions from a shopping complex built by the Udupi City Municipal Council.

JNNURM bus-stand :  Also, 34 cents of land belonging to the Department of Public Instruction had been transferred to KSRTC for construction of a government city bus-stand for low-floored buses to be provided under the JNURM, Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission.   Managing Director of KSRTC Rajendra Kumar Kataria is expected to visit Udupi shortly with regard to the construction of both these bus-stands soon.
