State Health & Family Welfare Department receives National Award

Mangaluru, Dec 04, 2015: For the very first time, the  Department of Health and Family Welfare of the Karnataka Government has bagged a National level Award.  The Award was given  in recognition of the outstanding services rendered by the Department  by offering good healthcare services as well as jobs  to the disabled and leprosy patients.

 

State Health and Family Welfare Minister U T Khader  received the Award from Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley at a ceremony held at the Vijnan Bhavan in New Delhi on December 3, Thursday.

Speaking after receiving the Award, Khader said the state government under the leadership of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah was extending all possible assistance towards the welfare of the disabled and the leprosy patients.  He also expressed his gratitude to all officials and staff of the Health Department as well as the NGOs which are playing a pivotal role in rendering services to the disabled persons as well as leprosy patients.

 The Rs one lakh cash received as part of the Award, would be utilised towards eradicating leprosy, the Minister further added.
