State Govt trying to dissolve institution of Lokayukta, alleges Shobha

Udupi, Dec 6, 2015: Udupi-Chikkamagaluru MP Shobha Karandlaje has accused Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and his cabinet colleagues of trying to dissolve the institution of Lokayukta.


Speaking to reporters at the District BJP Office here on December 6, Sunday, Shobha said  Siddaramaiah who had even taken out a Padayatra against corruption when the BJP was in power in the state, was now keen on dissolving the Lokayukta out of fear that  their involvement in corruption cases would stand exposed.

 Referring to the upcoming Legislative Council elections, she exuded confidence that the BJP candidate Kota Srinivas Poojary would  emerge victorious as  the BJP has 1,475 members out of the total 2,690 members  in 104 gram panchayats of Udupi district. Similarly, in Dakshina Kannada  the BJP has 1800 members in local administrative bodies, she informed and hoped of an easy win for  Poojary.

At the same time Shobha pointed out at the confusion in the Congress camp with many opposing he candidature of Pratapchandra Shetty and a few even choosing to contest as rebel candidates.

On the Anti-Superstition Law proposed by the state government, Shobha said the government should be  clear as to what practices and beliefs should come under this law. She even alleged that the government  was interested in implementing the law merely with an eye on its vote bank.

Tingale Vikarmarjun Hegde, Udupi District  BJP President, Kota Srinivas Poojary, Gitanjali Suvarna, Mattar Ratnaker Hegde and other party leaders were present.
