Mangaluru Apr 9, 2016: With the State reeling under electricity problem as well as drought situation, it seems at present it has a powerless government which has failed to solve the problems, said JD(S) State President HD Kumaraswamy.
Addressing the Media at Circuit House on April 9, Saturday, Kumaraswamy alleged that relief funds provided by Union Government has failed to reach the farmers. Officers are also not concerned about the problems faced by the farmers, he said.
The hike in electricity rate and petrol and diesel prices has been a burden for the people, he said adding the creation of Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) has only aimed at weakening the Lokayukta.
Speaking on BJP’s newly elected State President Yeddyurappa, Kumaraswamy said it was unfortunate that party workers have selected Yeddyurappa. It was the BJP government which sprouted corruption in the state, he said.
Pointing out that sand mafia has spread its tentacles in the district, Kumaraswamy said the government has failed to solve the problem. If sand is illegally transported to neighboring state of Kerala, needy people here are unable to construct houses for want of sand. Still the government has not taken any remedial measure, he alleged.
JD(S) District President Mohammed Kunhi, JD(S) Youth Wing President Akshith Suvarna, Corporator Aziz, Yogesh Shetty Kaup and others were present.
