State Government Recommends 30 Names for Padma Awards including Thumbay Moideen, Kadri Gopalnath

Bengaluru, September 24, 2015: The state government has recommended 30 names to the Union Home Ministry for the prestigious Padma awards.

Thumbay Moideen, founder of Thumbay Group and Gulf Medical University, Dr. H. Sudarshan Ballal, Director of the Manipal Institute of Nephrology and Urology, legendary Saxaphone player Kadri Gopalnath and Vijayanath Shenoy of Hasthashilpa are among those recommended for the awards from the coastal districts.

Chief Secretary Kaushik Mukherjee, on September 19, wrote to the Union Ministry of Home Affairs recommending the names.

While, two have been recommended for Padma Vibhushan, nine have been recommended for Padma Bhushan and 19 for Padma Shree.
