Stage set for campaigning ; top leaders likely to visit coastal districts

Mangaluru, Apr 18, 2018  : With major parties finalising names of candidates for most of the constituencies, the state is set for campaigning in undivided Dakshina Kannada district as elsewhere in the state. Though Congress has announced candidates for all constituencies in the district, the BJP is yet to finalise its candidates for the three constituencies in Mangaluru.

 It has been gathered that top leaders from BJP, Congress and JD(S) are expected to campaign in the coast in the next few days.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the star campaigner of the BJP  is likely to visit the region in the first week of May. However the exact schedule of the PM’s visit is yet to be finalised.

Congress President Rahul Gandhi who had recently taken part in Janashirvada Yatra is expected to visit the district once again. This time however, he may  choose to directly approach the voters rather  than laying emphasis on public meetings. Sources reveal that Rahul may visit Sullia, Puttur and Belthangady. Meanwhile,  the party is also trying to rope in former Congress president  Sonia Gandhi for campaigning.

BJP Chief Amit Shah and UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath too are expected to visit the district.

Deve Gowda to join campaign spree : JD(S) President HD Deve Gowda  and State JD(S) Chief HD Kumaraswamy are likely to campaign for the party in all the  eight constituencies of the district.
