St. Philomina college wins Mangalore University inter-college aquatic championship

Mangaluru, Sep 9,2016: It is reported that St Philomina College, Puttur, won the overall team championship in the MU, Mangalore University inter-college aquatic championship held at Mangala swimming pool.

Vaishnav Hegde, a first Bcom student, was declared the fastest swimmer in men’s category and won the individual championship along with a second place in men’s category by bagging 10 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze medals.

Deeksha Ramesh, a first BCA student, emerged the fastest swimmer in the women’s category and won the individual championship with 12 gold medals.

Sweedal Lobo, a 2nd Bcom student, won 4 silver and 4 bronze medals.

Both Vaishnav Hegde and Deeksha Ramesh will represent the all-India Inter University Aquatic Championship to be held at Chandigarh in October. They represent Puttur Aquatic Club and are being trained by Partha Varanashi, Vasanth Kumar and Niroop G R at Balavana Swimming Pool.
