Mangaluru, Dec 07, 2019:   Headquarters No. 3 of Coast Guard in the state of Karnataka working with key stakeholders accompanying GenNext of all ages who understand the environmental, climate and health consequences of using plastics conducted a massive campaign against single-use plastic in all Coast Guard areas and beautiful beaches along the coast/ river fronts of Mangalore and Karwar under the aegis of MoD today   07 December 2019. Coast Guard engagement in this noble cause have motivated other network of NGO’s, grassroots organisations, campus youth, primary/ secondary students and teachers. With a motto of "Cleanliness is next to Godliness" which means  "स्वच्छता, भक्ति से भी बढ़कर है"

The event was conducted at Bangre, Panambur, Meenakaliya, Suratkal, Chitrapur, Gurupura River Front at New Mangalore including at Ravindranath Tagore Beach, Karwar alongside the Coast Guard facilities at Bangalore.

The Coast Guard Headquarters, No. 3 Coast Guard District, Karnataka and units under command have enthusiastically participated in the event wherein they spread the awareness on Swachh Bharat, by displaying banners and placards with tagline "Plastic se Raksha, Swatchta hi Suraksha". The special drive against the single use plastic also conducted in and around the beaches of New Mangalore and Karwar.

The school children from various schools also participated in special drive Plastic Se Suraksha coastal cleanup drive. The personnel collected tons of plastic waste from different places.

During the event DIG SS Dasila, TM, Commander Coast Guard Karnataka while interacting with media called upon local populace to support the campaign and to join Coast Guard efforts to End Plastic Pollution. By avoiding single use plastic we can prevent poisoning and injuring marine life to littering our beaches. The exponential use of plastics is now threatening the very survival of our beautiful planet.
