Special children:Govt committed to their welfare

Mangaluru, Feb 27, 2016: Presiding over a programme organised to present certificates to trainees of a six-month diploma vocational course organised for the trainers of mentally challenged (second batch), Director of the Department for the Empowerment of the Differently Abled and Senior Citizens Govindaraju said the State government is committed to overall development of the specially abled. He said the government is making efforts to treat special children as normal children by running schools in association with non-government organisations;

He went on to say that teaching special children requires a great deal of patience and dedication as the trainers have to motivate these children to carry out their day-to-day work on their own. In this regard, the endeavours of special teachers are worth appreciation and the State government has been spending Rs 5,000 per month per special child to running special schools along with the support of voluntary organisations across the State, he added.

Joint commissioner of Commercial Taxes Enforcement, Western Zone, Mangaluru, B A Naniyappa M A,  Apostolic Carmel former General  Rev Sr Agatha Mary, Government Women’s Polytechnic, Bondel, Principal B N Kumbar and Saanidhya Adminitrative Officer Vasant Kumar Shetty were present.

The course was organised by the Department of Technical Education-CCTEK, Government Polytechnic for Women and Saanidhya Residential School at Saanidhya Residential School at Shaktinagar.
