Mangaluru, Oct 5, 2015 : B Janardhana Poojary, former union minister and the rallying force behind the renovation and development of the Shree Gokarnanatha Kshetra at Kudroli in Mangaluru has informed that special prayers and poojas would be offered at the shrine on October 13, 14 and 15 during the Dasara celebrations seeking divine intervention to drop the controversial Yettinahole Project.
Poojary who spoke to reporters at a press meet convened at the Temple Auditorium on October 5, Monday said prayers would be offered to the divine to convince the CM and other leaders so that they would abandon the project.
Poojary also said Brahmakalashotsava ceremony will be held at the Kshetra during this year’s Dasara celebrations to mark the completion of 25 years of the Temple’s Renovation as well as Mangaluru Dasara.
Poojary informed that Mangaluru Dasara will be celebrated this year from October 13 to October 24 and added the idols of Goddess Sharada and Navadurgis will be installed on October 13. Brahmakalashotsava ceremonies will be held from October 14 to 16, he said and added that a Hore Kanike procession will be taken out from Nehru Maidan to the Temple on October 14.
Poojary while welcoming the Chief Minister’s decision to backtrack from his earlier decision against celebrating Mysore Dasara in a grand manner owing to drought conditions, said if Dasara is celebrated grandly, tourists would visit in large numbers and this in turn would generate more revenue to the state.
He said the Mangaluru Dasara celebrations will conclude with a grand Shobhayatra on the evening of October 23.
During this occasion, Poojary also reiterated his earlier demand to offer reservation facility to the poor belonging to Brahmin, GSB and other upper caste categories.
