South Karnataka Travel Agents Association protests against cheating by 2 medical centres

Mangaluru, Sep 20, 2019: The South Karnataka Travel Agents Association  staged a protest in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office here on September 19, Wednesday to oppose the alleged  fraudulent practices in two medical centres near Lalbagh and in State Bank area of Mangaluru.

 

The Association  while pointing out that the youth  aspiring to get jobs in  Gulf nations have to mandatorily obtain GCC Medicals, alleged that the  medical reports of a few youth who underwent check-up in these two centres termed them as unfit, while tests done in other centres revealed otherwise. As those who are declared unfit have to wait for another 21 days  to get another test done, it has been a stumbling block to those  who have to go overseas on urgent   basis, the Association said.

 

Further it has pointed out that the Medical Centre would get Rs 5,000 out of the fee if  the report  result is unfit, while otherwise  half the  fee has to be paid to GAMCA  (Gulf Approved Medical Centres Association).

The protestors later submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner urging for steps to refund the fee to the affected candidate  who gets a ‘fit’ certificate in some other medical centre 21 days after the first test  in either of the  above mentioned two medical centres which gave ‘unfit’ certificate.

The Association has further demanded a probe through a Committee into the cheating that  has taken place in the past one year period and urged for  arrangements to issue medical reports  on the same day of the test.

 Honorary President of the South Karnataka Travel Agents Association Ramesh Poojary, Honorary  Advisor Yogish Shetty Jeppu,  President Siddique Albushra, Secretary Umarul Farooq, Media Advisor Zakir and others were in the delegation that submitted a memorandum to the district administration.
