Mangaluru, June 20 2018: Social activist M G Hegde has said that he has initiated a social concern challenge on ’Reuse of Water’ and has requested citizens to accept the challenge and take it forward.
Speaking to reporters here on June 20, Wednesday, Hegde said keeping in mind the need to conserve water and the likely scarcity of water during summer, he has initiated a project wherein waste water from the kitchen and bathroom could be reused for flushing toilet and for garden purposes. He said a tank was specially built for the purpose with a mechanism to filter the water. The water from the kitchen and bathroom is thus recycled to flush toilets and for gardening in the process saving 40% water.
He said he spent Rs 35,000 for the same and added that the cost could be reduced with expert advice. Hegde also said he was passing this social concern challenge to the DC, ZP CEO, MPs and MLAs of the district and MLCs, Farooq, Ivan D’Souza and Harish Kumar and hoped for a revolution in this regard.
