Smugging : Gold worth Rs 18.75 lac seized in Mangalore Airport

Mangalore, Sep 23, 2014 :In a joint operation, the officers of Customs at Mangalore International Airport and the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence, Mangalore seized six gold bars totally weighing 699.900 gms valued at Rs. 18.75 lakhs concealed in the rectum of a passenger named Abdul Rahiman Sulaiman, aged 43 years, a resident of Bendichal in Kasargod, who arrived from Dubai Air India Express flight on Monday, Sept 22 at 10.15 pm.

He was arrested and produced before the CJM Court, Mangalore. The operation was conducted under the supervision of Pravin Vinod, Asst Commissioner of Customs, Mangalore International Airport by a team lead by HB Venketesh, Superintendent along with Superintendents RS Venkataram, Marcus Pereira, RG Gaonkar and Inspectors Jai Shanker, Ramakrishnan, Subhendu Rajan Behera, Kamelesh Kumar Meena and Havaldar K Ramani along with DRI officers P Vijayan and Ganapathy Hegde.

 

Further investigation is under progress.
