Sixth edition of annual Pilinalike at Mannagudda on October 7

Mangaluru, Oct 6, 2019: The tiger dance competition - sixth edition of ‘Pilinalike’,  will take place at Mannagudda volleyball ground at 11.30 am on October 7. The contest is organised jointly by Dakshina Kannada District Youth Congress president Mithun Rai and Namma TV.

Mithun Rai told media on October 5, Saturday, that 9 teams will exhibit their tiger dance. “The winners will get Rs 2.50 lakh, Rs 1.50 lakh and Rs 1 lakh respectively. In addition, Rs 30,000 each will be given to the best performing cub, ‘black tiger,’ ‘tiger that throws Akki mudi, beating ‘tase’ (drum), and costume.

Each performing team can have 15 persons and each team will be given 22 minutes to perform,” said Rai.

Pilinalike Trust: “The Pilinalike Trust was launched recently to promote artistes performing tiger dance. The Trust will extend financial assistance to artistes who are in distress, help in constructing houses and also introduce group insurance scheme for artistes engaged in tiger dance,” Rai said and added, “To preserve the art, the movie ‘Pilinalike’ will be produced through the Trust. The movie is likely to be released on April 2, 2020.

Mangaluru Commissioner of Police Dr P S Harsha will unveil the logo of the Trust at the stage of Pilinalike competition on October 7.

The participating teams are: Maruthi Vyayama Shale, Konchadi; Jai Sharadambe, Porkodi; Vaidyanatha Friends’ Circle, Adyapadi; Chilimbi Friends, Chilimbi; Junior Boys, Chilimbi; Emmekere Friends’ Circle, Emmekere; Mulihitlu Games Team, Mangaladevi; Puradappena Mokedha Bolilu, Polali and Gokrakshanatha Huligalu, Gordanda.
