Mangaluru, May 07, 2015: As many as six persons belonging to Hindu organisations have been arrested by the Urwa police with regard to a case of alleged kidnapping of a young pair. In the meantime the arrests have sparked outrage among Hindu activists who even staged a protest in front of the Urwa police station demanding their release.
The incident is learnt to have taken place on May 6, Wednesday when a youth named Sadiq was travelling with a Hindu girl in a bus from Dharwad to Udupi.
It is said the driver and conductor of the bus who overheard the two speaking concluded that they were of different faiths and instead of stopping the bus at Udupi took it straight to Mangaluru where Sadiq was reportedly assaulted by a few persons before being handed over to the Urwa cops.
Following the incident the young woman lodged a complaint on the basis of which the police arrested six persons.
