Sisters demand SIT probe into RTI activist Vinayak Baliga murder case

Mangaluru, Mar 09, 2018:  Anuradha Baliga and Harsha Baliga, sisters of RTI activist late Vinayak Baliga have submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Home Minister Ramalinga Reddy through the Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner seeking constitution of a special investigation team to  probe the case of murder of Vinayak Baliga and expose the full plot behind the murder.

The memorandum was received by Additional Deputy Commissioner Kumar. Vinayak Baliga was brutally hacked to death close by his house near Kalakunj on March 21, 2016.

The investigations into the murder case of Baliga has come to a halt after the arrest of the prime accused Naresh Shenoy who managed to get bail after some months, He had been violating the conditions of the bail with impunity which has been brought to the attention of the court by Anuradha Baliga who has impleaded herself into the case. She has been filing applications in various courts and continuing her battle for  the constitution of a special investigation team to go into the full plot behind the murder of her brother.

Following a complaint by Anuradha Baliga with the Mujrai Department with regard to the  alleged misuse of funds  belonging to the Temple,  the Department has already ordered the Deputy Commissioner  to  conduct a thorough probe into the same  and submit a report.

Solidarity March : In order to pledge support to the family of Vinayak Baliga comprising his aged father and  four sisters and also to demonstrate its commitment to the cause of justice, the Desha Premi Sanghatanegala Okkuta  led by eminent rationalist Prof Narendra Nayak will take out a march from near the Sri Venkatramana Temple at Carstreet to the home of Vinayak Baliga on March 21. This will be followed by a public meeting.
