Mangalore Today News Network

Mangaluru, April 9, 2018: This January a new music club was born in Mangaluru which gives its members the chance to practice singing at no cost or fees at all. This music club is called K2’s Rock On and is the brainchild of its founders Kamlesh H. Baldev and his wife Komal (which should explain the two Ks!).

Thushar and Vernon DcostaThe club started out as an informal practice group with Kamlesh Baldev generously lending his office space for singing practice. The first member to join was Thushar, a student of Lourdes Central School who is a guitarist and singer. K2’s Rock On music club now has 23 members and young Thushar is the co-ordinator for the group.

Kamlesh H. Baldev continues to be the group admin and Melric Benroy does the photo shoots. Presently the youngest member of the group is Vernon D’costa, a Standard 8th student at St. Theresa’s School. He’s fondly called ‘Master Remo of Rock On’ due to his similarity in style to the Goan legend.

“Our idea is basically to promote the talents of music lovers and they get an opportunity to perform at least once a month or once in two months at a special programme arranged our club. We welcome both students and adults. We don’t’ charge or collect any fees. All one needs is love for music to join our club,” says Kamlesh.

K2’s organizes mini concerts which give the singers the public exposure they need. Each of these events showcases the budding talent of the group’s members for about two and half hours.  Mayor Kavita Sanil inaugurated the first ‘K2’s Rock On’ programme which was held at Donut Magic on 23 January 2018.

The second programme was organized at Empire Mall on Valentine’s Day (14th February) and Prakash Pandeshwar, producer of Tulu movie ‘Chali Polilu’ was the chief guest.
