Silver Jubilee celebrations at Dr. M. V. Shetty Nursing College

Mangalore, Oct 21, 2011: Dr. M. V. Shetty College of Nursing in Mangalore celebrated its silver jubilee, as part of which it organized a national conference at St. Sebastian Platinum Jubilee Auditorium of Bendoor today. 


B. N. Muninarayanappa, the registrar of State Nursing Council, Bangalore, inaugurated the event and lauded Dr. M. V. Shetty for his contributions in the field of nursing.

Dr. Ramgopal Shetty, the secretary of Dr. M. V. Shetty Memorial Trust, Mangalore, released the silver jubilee emblem of the college. 


Dr. Shriprakash K. S., the vice chancellor of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore, delivered the keynote address, in which he pointed out that the old students of the college are now serving all over the globe as faculty members, nurses, and others. 


He also said that the Rajiv Gandhi University is receiving a number of complaints regarding harassment of students by medical colleges. Students are forced to work in the same institution for 2 – 3 years after first making them sign a bond.  He said that the university will take strict action against institutions guilty of harassing students and will cancel their license. 


Trustee Hima Urmila Shetty, Administrative Officer Prof. Chandrashekar Shetty, and academicians Ranjith Shetty were also present.
