Shringeri shoot-out : ANF cop booked for murder

Mangalore, April 24, 2014 : In a fresh development in the case of ANF firing at Tanikodu check post near Shringeri which resulted in the death of a cattle transporter named Kabeer of Jokatte, there is information that  a case of murder has now been registered against the ANF cop who shot dead Kabeer.


Sringeri shoot 1 It has been reliably gathered that he has been booked under IPC sections 302 for murder, Section 341 for wrongful restraint and 295A. His identity however is not yet revealed.

This development comes after several protests against the killing and even the mounting pressure of the Congress leaders of the district and other organisations seeking justice to the family of Kabeer.

The incident had taken place on April 19 when the ANF men reportedly opened fire after stopping the vehicle carrying cattle near Shringeri check post.

In another incident later on the family members of Kabeer were attacked by Bhajrangdal men, when the former had been to Shringeri to take his body.

The state government has announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the family of Kabeer and has even ordered a CID probe into the case.
