Shiroor seer files nomination as independent candidate

Udupi, Apr 21, 2018: The battle in Udupi Assembly constituency has turned interesting with Sri Lakshmivara Theertha Swamiji of Shiroor Mutt filing his nomination as an independent candidate on April 21, Saturday.   The seer had earlier stated that he would contest as an independent if the BJP does not give him a ticket. This is the first time that a seer from Ashta Mutt is contesting the elections.

 

	Shiroor seer.jSpeaking to media persons later on, the seer said  he would be fully supporting Prime Minister Narendra Modi despite contesting as an independent. He also said he was confident of winning. He also claimed that he has been a BJP supporter all these years.

He also stated that he was waiting to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi who may visit Udupi next month  and added that  he would withdraw his candidature if the PM wishes so.

The seer  who had come by a procession to file his nomination, cancelled all other scheduled programmes as he suffered from dehydration.
