Shiradi Ghat to be opened today for light motor vehicles

Mangaluru, Sep 05, 2018: The Shiradi Ghat stretch of National Highway 75 will be opened for light motor vehicles from Wednesday, said Hassan Deputy Commissioner Rohini Sindhuri, here on Tuesday.

Speaking to presspersons, the officer said the stretch was closed for vehicles owing to landslips.

“The National Highways Division, after considering experts’ opinion, has written a letter that the Shiradi Ghat stretch of the highway could be opened for the light vehicles. Based on their letter, we have decided to allow vehicles from tomorrow,” she said. The officer also made it clear that the NH officers would be responsible in case of any untoward incident after vehicles were allowed.

Many landslips occurred in the stretch due to heavy rains in August, forcing the closure of the road for vehicles.
