Shashi Kiran Shetty of DK, Allcargo Logistics chief, takes up Prajna cause as patron

Mangaluru, Aug 24, 2016: Mangaluru  City-based non-governmental organization Prajna Counselling Centre is all set to get a boost to its multifaceted activities for women, children and the vulnerable, according to reliable reports.

Shashi Kiran DK origin, Mumbai-based Shashi Kiran Shetty, chairman of Allcargo Logistics Ltd, now 29 years in operations; is set to take up the initiative to spread a rescue net for the organization,  is seen as a laudable contribution. This captain of industry with his roots in Bantwal in Dakshin Kannada district will give Prajna a boost by becoming its patron.

Prajna : Set up in 1987 as a women- and children-centric organization dedicated for the cause of socially- and economically-deprived people among them, Prajna has consistently worked for the rehabilitation and empowerment of people such as destitutes, marginalized women and children, youth, alcohol and drug dependents, psychologically-challenged and adults/children prone to HIV/AIDS.  The centre reaches out to 25,000 such people on an average annually.

Hilda Rayappan, director of the Centre said sustainability of this institution with a 78-member staff and burgeoning expenses has become the key question. "Realizing the significance of the various social- and rehabilitation-oriented activities performed by us, Shashi Kiran Shetty has come forward to be a patron and support its sustainability," Hilda Rayappan said, adding the Centre is going to announce this and felicitate him at a function to be held at the centre on August 26.

Arathi Shashi Kiran Shetty and Supriya Shetty will also be inducted as new trust board members on this occasion. Describing Shashi Kiran Shetty as a compassionate and good human being, Hilda said he has assured management support to professionally run the Centre.
