Apart from the city, Puttur, Sullia, Bantwal and Belthangady taluks, and surrounding areas got good showers.

The Met Department had said the depression has moved northwest and lay centred over southeast Arabian Sea, about 130 km southeast of Minicoy, 380 km west-southwest of Thiruvananthapuram, and 380 km north-northeast of Male (Maldives). The depression is likely to move northwest and maintain the intensity during the next 24 hours.

It is likely to weaken gradually over southeast and the adjoining east central Arabian Sea in this period.

The department said rain or thundershowers were very likely in many places over coastal Karnataka, and in a few places over south interior Karnataka, in the next 24 to 48 hours.  There is no specific warning for fishermen along the Karnataka coast.

In Udupi :   Rain lashed Udupi, Manipal and surrounding areas as well, bringing some much-needed relief from the sweltering heat of the past few days.

Though the sky was cloudy in the morning, the sun later came out in full force. When the rain started in the evening, most people were caught unawares and had to rush to nearby shops to take shelter.  The rain was accompanied by thunder and lightening, which led to power outages.
