Sexual harassment by trio forces minor to consume poison

Udupi, Jun 6,2017: A minor girl from Amasebail in Kundapur who was attending tailoring classes after completing SSLC is presently  undergoing treatment at the Manipal Hospital after she attempted suicide  owing to sexual harassment by three youth.

The girl had reportedly consumed poison at her home on June 2. The incident came to light quite late. The accused has been identified as Vinay Shetty (29), Prashanth Hegde (28) and Prasad Hegde 30). The condition of the girl is said to be critical. It has been gathered that the accused trio used to constantly harass the girl.

 

Following a police complaint, a search has been launched for the accused who reportedly  used to telephone the girl and also harassed her whenever they came across  her.

It is said on June 2, the accused who phoned the girl asked her to come to a particular spot failing which her parents would be in trouble.  The girl who felt helpless had consumed rat poison. She was rushed to hospital when her parents found her in a  critical state at home.

Police have booked the  three absconding accused under POCSO.
