HY metiBengaluru, Dec 14, 2016: Karnataka Excise minister H Y Meti resingned on Wednesday after a CD containing his sexual escapades was leaked. Meti had informed KPCC president and Home Minister G Parameshwara that he did not do anything wrong but ready to quit as minister if the party wants him to do so.

An RTI activist from Ballari, Rajashekhar Molali, had claimed a few days back that he was in possession of a video CD in which Meti (71) is purportedly seen in a compromising position inside a taluk panchayat office.

He had threatened to release the CD if no action was taken against the minister.

Molali had given a written complaint that a certain person named Subhash who claimed to be close to the minister had even threatened him to not release the CD.

He further alleged that under pressure, Ballari police did not registered an FIR of his complaint.

Though the allegations were denied by the minister, a woman gave an interview to a local regional channel in which she claimed that she was sexually harassed by Meti. She, however, denied that she was not the woman in the CD. But her husband contradicted her claim, saying that she was he woman in the CD.

Siddaramaiah and home minister G Parameshwara had both said earlier that if Meti had to resign if there was such a video. Molali had sought a meeting with Parameshwara on Monday.

Earlier, education minister Tanvir Sait was caught surfing porn during Tippu Jayanthi festival for which BJP had strongly demanded his resignation.

Meti is from Bagalkot district of Karnataka. A farmer, he has been forest minister in 1994 and has also been MSIL chairman.

Siddaramaiah also announced Meti’s resignation on Twitter and said that a probe has been ordered into the issue.
