Several shops in Belthangady, Uppinangady torched by miscreants

Belthangady, Jan 18, 2015: Some shops at Belthangady have been set ablaze on January 16, Friday night while a few shops in Uppinangady too have been torched on January 17, Saturday night.

 In Belthangady, shops at Santhekatte and Church Road were damaged. In one case, Kudradka Enterprises on Church Road suffered damages  to the tune of Rs one lakh. The shop is owned by one Abdul Khader. Three other shops in the Town Panchayat Commercial Complex at Santhekatte were also partially gutted in the fire.  The shops included a stationery shop by Pushpavathi, an arecanut shop by Qasim and a studio owned by Subodh Jain.

The fire was first noticed by Shabarimale pilgrims who informed the police on night patrol. Fire service vehicles which rushed to the shop helped in putting out the fire.

In Uppinangady, at least four shops  reportedly suffered damages  due to fire on Saturday night.
