Several places across DK, Udupi receive good rainfall

Mangaluru, June 12, 2019: Various places of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi district have received good rainfall since Tuesday morning. The depression has left the sea rough with high tidal waves.

 

 

Mangaluru city witnessed intermittent rains since Tuesday morning. Good rainfall was reported from Bantwal, Mulki, Vittla, Suratkal, Karkala, Belthangady, Dharmasthala, Kanyana, BC Road and other places.

 Udupi town, Manipal, Koteshwar, Kollur, Brahmavar and Karkala also received rains.  As the sea is rough tourists are not allowed to venture into the water at Panambur, Tannirbavi, Ullal and Someshwar. Life guards have been asked to be on stand-by.

Sea erosion :  Sea erosion In Ullal, Someshwara and Uchila has damaged over 10 houses while 40 more are in danger. Over 50 trees have been engulfed by the sea.

District Minister UT Khader and MP Nalin Kumar Kateel are expected to visit sea erosion hit areas today.

In Suratkal sea water is entering the town through  storm water drains  bringing in fears of artificial floods.
