Seven shops at State Bank area burgled

Mangalore, Aug 27, 2011 : A total of seven shops, including a fancy store, 3 mobile shops, a general store, an electronic shop, and a scrap merchant’s shop, all located near the fish market at State Bank were burgled on the night of Aug 26 Friday. Goods worth lakhs have been stolen.

The owners of these shops discovered the theft this morning. The shops are located in the rented complex of Mangalore City Corporation (MCC). The shop owners said that although their shops are being broken into for the past 7 years, no night watchman has been hired.  The shop owners had earlier lodged a complaint at Pandeshwar Police Station, but to no avail.

The shutters of a fancy store owned by Laxmi were broken into and some items were stolen. Scrap shops belonging to Abubakker and Bava Byari, a general store belonging to Nagesh Sheny, and an electronic store belonging to Hasanakka were also broken into.

The police have visited the shops and conducted investigations. The Pandeshwar police have registered a case.
