Sevak Announces Golden Jubilee Award Winners




Sevak, a Konkani monthly, has announced the names of its golden jubilee award winners on October 3, Saturday. The monthly will be giving away these awards during its golden jubilee celebrations on October 11, Sunday. Uttarakhand Governor Margaret Alva, KPCC President Deshpande, and former Union Minister Oscar Fernandes will be the chief guests for the event. 

The monthly, which is giving away awards for the longest living couple, family with the largest number of children, largest number of priests and nuns, and so on, had invited applications for the same earlier this year. Each Sevak Golden Jubilee Award comprises the pope’s blessings, mementoes, cash award worth Rs. 10,000, a citation letter, and felicitations. 

Mr. Timothy Rodrigues and Lilly Rodrigues of Belthangady, who have 16 children, have won the Sevak Golden Jubilee Award for family with the largest number of children. Piad and Gracy Serrao of Moodubidri, who have 7 children in the religious order, have won the award for family with the highest religious vocations. The award for the longest living couple goes to John and Angeline D’Souza of Karkala, who have been together for 69 years ever since their wedding in 1940.

Besides, the winners of the Sevak short story competition Fr. Oswald Monteiro, Edwin Netto, and Ron Roche; Sevak poetry competition Br. Vinod Colaco, Fr. Ivan D’Souza, and Br. Cyril D’Souza; humor writings competition Fr. Oswald Monteiro, Bernard D’Costa, and Joseph D’Souza will also receive their prizes on this occasion.
