On the road to Gangawati from Ballari, actor/politician Prakash Raj told The Quint:

"Your religion should not be your government. Look at how Pakistan has ended up now." - Prakash Raj

Raj, a known BJP critic, has joined the campaign trail ahead of Karnataka elections. The only message his campaign #JustAsking has for the people of Karnataka is, “Keep asking questions to the people you chose as your representatives.”

Citing examples of Hitler, he said fascist forces always lead to tragedy and therefore it is a must that the government “learns to live with differences.”

On his plans to join politics, Raj said, “I am already in politics. Politics doesn’t mean you have to be in a political party. If you are a politically aware citizen, you are in politics already.”

Reiterating his campaign’s motto, he told The Quint, “My aim is to not let people forget things. The BJP always tries to divert from one topic to another. But people of this country must not forget anything.”

He said he is sure that with the growing mistrust in people of this country, there is “no way” that the BJP will come back to power in 2019 elections.

The BJP’s Karnataka wing on Tuesday filed a complaint with the chief electoral officer against Gujarat MLA Jignesh Mevani and Prakash Raj for allegedly using derogatory remarks and defaming Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BS Yeddyurappa, BJP’s chief ministerial candidate for Karnataka, according to ANI.
