Senior corporator Harinath likely to be next Mayor

Mangaluru, March 11, 2016: Five times Congress Corporator Harinath is all likely to be elected as the next Mayor of Mangaluru in the elections scheduled to be held today.

The post is reserved for the general category and as many as 30 corporators from the Congress are   eligible for the top post.

However, the party leadership at a meeting held at Circuit House on March 10, Thursday evening has decided to finalise the name of Harinath who has been winning the MCC elections since 1984. He is representing Marakada ward.

Meanwhile, with the post of Deputy Mayor reserved for SC/ST category the lone corporator who is eligible is Sumitr a Kariya of the BJP who represents Suratkal ward.
